DescriptionThe organ has a total of three registers and 31 keys (including two keys to control the registers). The clock strikes the whole and half hours, with one strike on the quarters.
Accompanying textsThere are 16 interchangeable cylinders, each containing one or two melodies. The programmed music includes melodies by Joseph Haydn (1732-1809), such as a set of variations on one of his quartets. The cylinders for this instrument also include a minuet from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Don Giovanni, a selection from C.M. von Weber's Preciosa and several psalm melodies.
This clock used to stand in the Majella Hospital in Bussum. This institution was demolished at the end of the twentieth century, after which the clock was acquired by the museum. The clock occupies a curious place in the timeline of instruments built by two important Dutch organ clock makers: Coenraadt Ludwig Leib, and the more famous Diederich Nikolaus Winkel. This instrument could be either Winkel's first or Leib's last.
