DescriptionThis gilt watch plays music using a fan comb. It also has a repeating movement, which means that the watch can strike the time on command via the pressing of a button, and thus not only on the regular hourly beat.

19th-century musical watches very often contain a playing movement with a fan comb. This system is also called "musique sur plateau". It had the advantage that the music disk - which holds the pins of the music program - could be easily built into the watch due to its low height.
